A former Attorney General of Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, has emerged the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Mr Jegede was declared winner by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP at the primaries held in Akure, the Ondo State capital in southwest Nigeria.
The former Commissioner for Justice polled 760 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr Saka Lawal who scored 22 votes.
The election was conducted on Monday by the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee and Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Seriake Dickson.
It was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, journalists and various election observers.
Not less than 840 delegates from 203 wards in Ondo State participated in the election.
